Here is a video which showcases the home made snowmobile ramp “sled deck” that I made a few years ago that I made to very easily and efficiently transport snowmobiled without have to deal with the hassle of owning a trailer. If your goal is to go ride on a solo mission or just to transport one sled then you cannot beat this home made DIY sled deck. Materials used were
A single 4’x8’x3/4” sheet of treated plywood for the deck
2- 2”x6”x 8’ treated boards for the deck slides
and a single 1”x6”x8’ treated board to make the outer sides
An old snowmobile track for the “Dragon Tail”
And an old pickup truck bed liner cut up to make the ski guides.
2-1/2” deck screws and some lag bolts and washers for the dragon tail.
This project cost roughly $100 considering the truck bed liner was free and the used track was only $10. It was very simple to make and I have a tendency to slightly over build things so It is pretty heavy but it is incredibly sturdy and I have not had any issues with it so far.
I recommend anybody that has a snowmobile and if you just want to keep things simple for an afternoon of riding. Anybody with basic carpentry skills can build this so no engineering degree, welding, or machining required like some of these other sled decks I’ve seen people make on here.
Thank you for watching. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think about it. Is there any way that I could make it better or easier? I would like to add a winch so it pulls itself in but I just want to keep it simple in the end. If this video was helpful, feel free to drop a Super Thanks in the comments. Those really help.
Thanks 🙏
