You can double the pulling power of your winch cheaply. If you just have a hand winch like we have, or a weak electric winch, this technique is indispensable for pulling a heavy car with two flat tires onto your trailer, as shown here.
Source a single pulley block from the hardware store. Thread the winch cable through the pulley. Shackle the pulley block to the car, and hook the end of the winch back onto the trailer. Then crank away.
You double the pulling power but you also lose half the length of the winch cable. So, you may need an auxiliary strap or chain to gain more length.
