Making snacks from scratch has saved us so much money while also giving us healthier, homemade alternatives to store-bought food. Living below the poverty line means we have to be intentional with every dollar, and making our own food is one of the biggest ways we stretch our grocery budget. These budget-friendly snack ideas are easy, affordable, and made with simple ingredients—no need for expensive packaged snacks! In this video, I’m making: • Homemade bread • Hummus • Flatbreads & chips • Black bean brownies • Popsicles • Fresh veggies • Oat milk • Chia seed pudding • Granola & no-bake granola bars If you’re looking for cheap snacks, frugal living tips, or ways to cut down on your grocery bill, I hope this helps! Recipes: Whole wheat bread: https://theconscientiouseater.com/easy-4-ingredient-whole-wheat-artisan-bread/ Flat breads: 4 cups of flour 1 cup of water ½ cup of olive oil Dash of salt Directions: Mix until it forms a ball. Roll out to size desired.it does not have to be perfect. Cook in a pan on medium heat (with or without oil) for roughly 1-2 minutes on each side. You'll know when to flip it when it starts to bubble If you want to turn them into chips, cut them up in triangle shapes, add to a baking sheet, and put in the oven at 400 for 5 minutes then flip them over and put them in for another 5 minutes, keeping a close eye on them. Hummus: 3 cups of cooked chickpeas The juice of 2 lemons ½ cup of tahini 3 garlic cloves ¼ cup of olive oil Salt to taste Spices of your choice Optional: to add cold water to make it more creamier. Ill add ¼-½ cup of water. Add a little bit at a time Black Bean Brownies: 2 cups of cooked black beans ½ cup of cocnut oil ½ cup of coco powder ½ cup of maple syrup ½ cup of oatflour 1 tsp of baking soda Dash of salt Vanilla to taste Belend mixture together and Bake at 350 for 25 mins No Bake Granola Bars: 2 cups of rolled oats 1 ½ cup of peanutbutter ½-1cup of seeds of choice ½ cup of sweetner Oat milk: 4 cups of cold water 1 cup of rolled oats Blend for 45 seconds. Pour mixture through nut milk bag. Don't squeeze the extra liquid out as this can make your milk more goopy and we don't want that. If you want it a little sweet feel free to mix in maple syrup or honey. Optional: save the oat pulp to make oatmeal cookies. We are all about minimal waste on this side of youtube Chai seed pudding: ⅓ cup of coco powder ¼-½ cup of maple syrup 2 tsp of vanilla 4 cups of oat milk 1 cup of chai seeds Directions: Add al the ingredients except the chai seeds into a sauce pan. Turn on the heat to low and stir with a whisk until everything looks well mixed. This helps ensure the cocoa powder gets dissolved. Then add the chai seeds and stir well to make sure they are evenly distributed in the mixture. Pour into mason jars and let it sit in the fridge for 5 hours before its ready.
