Hello Shiny, Crafty People! Welcome back! Today I'm showing off an easy Fabric cover for the KN95 mask!
Since some government health agencies are now recommending KN95 or N95 masks for use, I thought it would be fun to create a fabric cover to dress up the plain masks!
I originally thought I'd be able to create a universal template for this, but the last three KN95 masks I bought for reference were all a bit different in shape, so I don't want to create something that won't work for the different types. But the video shows an easy way to make your own template with paper!
Here's what you'll need to make this mask:
Paper & Pen (to make your template)
1 KN95 Masks (to trace for template)
Fabric (you can choose different fabrics for each side if you want)
Matching thread (if desired)
Elastic
Silicone Toggles for the elastic (if desired)
Iron
Sewing Machine
Scissors or Rotary Cutter
Here's where I buy my elastic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086V23BMJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Here's where I buy my silicone toggles: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Toggles-Drawstrings-Adjuster-Adjustment/dp/B08942V3NK/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=silicone+toggles&qid=1628005142&sr=8-5
If I'm not recording a video, I can make one of these masks in about 8 minutes.
If the mask as originally designed is a bit too big, you can always find an "in-between" size by using a bigger seam allowance. Try a 3/8" seam allowance rather than a 1/4" allowance.
THE RATINGS:
I rate this mask a 8/10 for comfort
I rate this mask a 9/10 for utility or efficacy.
And as for ease of sewing, I rate it an 7/10.
Have fun making this cool & easy mask cover and, until next time, stay crafty!!
