Library services naturally have an outward focus. This session explores how an inward focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion can strengthen a sense of belonging among library staff.

Carrie McClain currently serves as the Chief Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Officer at the Tulsa City-County Library. In this role, she leads the EDI strategy and implementation across the TCCL system. She has served in EDI roles for over six years and in her previous role served as the Assistant Vice President for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Tulsa Schusterman campus. Carrie received her Bachelor of Arts degree and Master’s degree in Human Relations with a counseling focus from the University of Oklahoma. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma, with over ten years of experience in the mental health field. Additionally, she teaches as an adjunct professor for the clinical mental health counseling program at the University of Oklahoma. She enjoys family time with her two girls and spouse, and loves to travel and try new things.
