The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or the Cairo Museum, is the world's largest repository of ancient Egyptian art, located in Cairo on Tahrir Square. The collection includes about 160 thousand exhibits from all historical periods of ancient Egypt. Founded in 1858 as the Bulak Museum, from 1891 to 1900 it was called the Gizeh Museum, then the Egyptian Museum. The opening of the museum in the new building took place in 1902.
