Happy 2k! It took some time, but I finally got this little romantic RP together for you all. Happy (late) Valentine’s Day!
I struggled a bit in keeping Ei and the Raiden Shogun’s voices distinct, while still feeling like the same person. I have so much respect for voice actors who play up subtle voice shifts like this. As always happens when I do these videos, I feel like I have a deeper appreciation for Ei now, too.
⚡ Spoiler: I know 愛してる (Aishiteru) is a really big deal to actually say irl, but I wanted to use it since falling in love is a huge deal for Ei. As she says, it’s yet another massive shift in her attempts at maintaining eternity. Please don’t come for me if you speak Japanese lol It’s a dramatization.
That’s also why I chose to translate it in the subtitles as “I love you for all of eternity.” It might not be a literal translation, but I think it carries the weight a little better to an English speaking audience. ⚡
