The Vectron electric locomotive is available as a purely electric model and as a hybrid version. It has the pulling power of 23 trucks. These trains, costing up to 4.5 million euros each, are manufactured in Munich. By 2023, DB Cargo aims to deploy 400 electric locomotives in European freight rail operations, saving up to eight million liters of diesel annually. The advantage: the locomotive is particularly environmentally friendly and can be modularly configured and upgraded, allowing it to operate seamlessly on all European rail networks.
