"Last Train To London" was the final single issued from ELO's greatest accomplishment, "Discovery" from 1979. Their foray into disco brought a new rock element to it, different from what Donna Summer did. For me it was an easy transition since the band has always incorporated stringed and electrified strings to create their unique Beatlesque sound, right from "Showdown". Many, many, many (about one hundred) requests have been for me to remix this one, but until recently, did not have the tech knowledge. I'm learning as I go along and try to perfect these remixes whenever I can, but in the absence of the master recording, I have to separate the vocals and the instruments. ELO's music does this perfectly, but other artists music is not as perfect sounding due to mike placements and bleed through, which is what happens when the song is recorded live with everyone in the studio and the instruments/vocals can be heard in the background of the other tracks. It does not make for a clean sound so I am not able to remix certain songs until I figure out how to correct that. Its a great song that peaked at #39 in the summer of 1980 but has gained a huge audience since then and become a classic. If you like this one, I think that "Diary Of Horace Wimp" could follow sometime soon.
