It is a common point where various in coming transmission lines and out going feeders are connected to a common bus, this junction point provide not only voltage change facility but also provide various control facility to manage power distribution among the connected feeders lines. Also, this is the point where protection and measuring devices are installed. Measuring instruments like ammeter, voltmeter, watt meter etc. in conjunction with ct and pt, measure and record various important parameters like voltage, current, power etc. Various relays like over current, over voltage, under current, under voltage etc. are not only provide protection against the faults which occurs within the substation but also counter the misshaping that could occur far away from the substation over feeder lines.
