Spliced together three of my favorite artist's versions of this song into one arrangement. The Elvis and Merle Haggard versions are quite similar and so fit together pretty pretty well, but the Johnny Cash version is in a totally different key (C# vs G) and tempo. Also, he only performed this song a few times, always live, the most notable being at Folsom Prison, so the sound quality is not great. I used his voice for the spoken part and harmonies at the end, and convinced myself it sounds OK since the abrupt contrast of his rough voice echoing in the walls of Folsom Prison matches the imagery of what is happening in the song. Realistically, I probably just want it to work, but I'm sure you'll let me know in the comments if you disagree ;).
