Elvis Presley - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - 7 August 1970 - Stage Rehearsal

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

During the period that encompassed the filming of "That's The Way It Is" by MGM, Elvis did a considerable amount of rehearsing in four separate locations. After filming rehearsals in MGM's Culver City studios on 14, 15, 20 and 29 July 1970 as well as others in the conference room of the International Hotel on 4 August and a stage rehearsal on 7 August. A decent proportion of his stage rehearsal on 7 August in the International Hotel's main showroom was filmed. However, only very limited amounts of this footage with Elvis wearing his iconic red shirt was used in either the 1970 or 2001 versions of "That's The Way It Is" Elvis undertook another stage rehearsal on the afternoon of 10 August, just hours before Elvis walked onto the stage for opening night. The song agenda for both these stage rehearsals was almost identical and on both occasions You Don't Have To Say You Love Me was the second song rehearsed. The rehearsals that were filmed by MGM were not the only ones that Elvis undertook in preparation for his upcoming engagement. On 24 and 30 July he undertook what would likely be far more serious sessions in RCA's Hollywood studios. He also undertook a further two sessions in the hotels's convention centre on 5 and 6 August after filming the session on 4 August. Rehearsals were rounded off by the aforementioned 10 August rehearsal in the main showroom with Elvis wearing a blue shirt in the same style as the iconic red one. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
