Behindwoods Gold Medals 2017 presents Mahendran with Legendary Performer Award. He received the award from Kalaipuli S.Thanu. Thanu spoke about his days when Mahendran wrote Story,Screenplay & Dialogs.
Mahendran thanked MGR for bringing him back to Tamil cinema when he was disappointed & fed up with Tamil Cinema. He went to thank Sivaji Ganeshan , Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Balu Mahendra, Ilayaraja& others who have contributed to his rise. He dedicated this award to his wife for her selfless service.
