"Empaths aren't Real" (unless you are one)

I have learned so much about empaths over the last decade, not only as it applies to myself, but also how the general population can be very mean to you if you claim you're one. They'll say you're a covert narcissist, have BPD, or are just delusional. The term "empath" is often used to describe individuals who are exceptionally sensitive to the emotions of others. However, there is limited scientific research to support the existence of this distinct personality type. When we get into things like ESP and Telepathy, the field of psychology will turn their head and call it pseudoscience. They don't want to talk about energy or chakras and think that's all made up and will discredit their profession if they accept it or even engage in scientific research on the subject. Dr Elaine Aron coined the term Highly Sensitive Person in 1996 and estimated approximately 20% of the population to fall into this category. Do you think there are more highly sensitive people in the world now? What do you think we will learn about highly sensitive people and empaths in the next 30 years? There's a podcast called The Telepathy Tapes that is very informative and provide further understanding, and a great book (one of the first I read) called The Empaths Survival Guide by Dr. Judith Orloff. You've may have heard me discuss in my previous videos that empaths and highly sensitive people are also more likely to be neurodivergent (autistic/adhd), and some don't even know it, but will easily relate to this non-diagnostic term instead. If there's more on the topic you'd like me to talk about let me know in the comments. Of course I will release more videos in the future that shine a light on the dark empath, and more!
