I was returning home from a visit to the doctor when I heard chatter on the CCET radio frequency. The MP15DC switcher was working Huhtamaki. I stopped over at the Curliss Road railroad crossing to watch the little EMD locomotive working. First we see it shoving a cut of cars into the Huhtamaki grounds. Then we see it pulling a cut of cars out and crossing the same railroad crossing. Is that locomotive cool or what?! The front of the locomotive is the end opposite the cab.
Check out the tank car at the end of the cut of cars. Have you ever seen one like that? It is an elevated temperature liquid car used to transport liquids at or above 212F.
Next we see it after it came onto the mainline. It is headed westbound to Clare Yard with a nice cut of boxcars. Clare Yard is about 22 miles to the west of Huhtamaki and is the interchange of Norfolk Southern Railroad and CCET.
I also threw in a flashback video from almost 7 years ago. The 3 locomotives seen here are no longer on the property. They all went out west years ago to other railroads that Homestead Rail Group owns. It was Frontier. Not many videos exist of the SD45s shown here and especially with the 330 unit. It's especially rare since they are seen near the east end of the line at Hanson quarry in Plum Run. This section of track had recently been reopened and was being used for car storage. All of those tank cars were storage cars. That is a rare clip and is now history.
