These are my hybrid Endler Guppies that I have been breeding. I crossed a pure Endler strain with an electric blue fancy guppy (don’t worry, I have an isolated pure strain of Endler guppies at home). They make for some very interesting colorations and morphologies! It’s fun to see unique patterns show on every male, they’re like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.
This is one of my constant classroom tanks that I maintain as an example of how to build a self-sustaining ecosystem. I can’t remember the last time I did a water change. Everything is very well balanced with regard to the nitrogen cycle as the tank is heavily planted. There is even a black skirt tetra in there as guppy population control. As I like to tell my students, “Jerry eats babies, that’s nature.”
