Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Hello this is "Night Sky" :)
After pondering for a very long time, Sonyeo finally got spayed.
Before we decided to get her spayed, I consulted with our vet various times.
I decided to leave some information below for people who do not know about the spaying procedure or thinking about spaying their pet as well :)

Spaying/neutering is referred to the procedure of having the reproductive organs removed. For males it can prevent testicular, prostate cancer/ problems related to that area and for females it can prevent the formation of malicious fibroids within the uterus, ovaries and etc.
For females, it can also prevent unwanted pregnancies and during the time of their period, when their immune system is weak, it can prevent our female dogs from getting a uterus infection/inflammation. Our vet in this video talked about phantom pregnancy which is a condition where the female dog believes that it is pregnant and the body reacts accordingly. If conditions get worse, it is possible for female dogs to develop malignant tumors and fibroids from phantom pregnancy.

I felt that if Sonyeo were to consistently have her periods/ be in heat, regardless of whether we kept her away from other dogs or not, it could possibly lead to pregnancies that Sonyeo does not want. I realized that realistically speaking, finding good homes for each and every one of Sonyeo's precious children would be very difficult.

Another reason why I decided to get Sonyeo spayed was because she was having a significantly hard time with her period. When she would get her period she was extremely stressed out from not being able to go outside (in order to protect her from contracting diseases since the immune system weakens during a period), or going on walks, or playing with her friends. Because of these stressors, I often found her in distress or whimpering out of stress.

However, spaying or neutering your dog doesn't always have pros. Due to the procedure a dog could gain a significant amount of weight and eventually have obesity due to the change in their hormones or they could even experience a change in their personality. I have already decided that I am going to raise Sonyeo and Haengsung as long as they live and take responsibility for them as long as they live, so after a long time of thinking it though, I have decided to get her spayed. I am not writing this to force you to get your dogs spayed and neutered or telling you what to do with your dogs. I believe that this is a very important topic that should be researched and discussed with a professional.

For me, I didn't want Sonyeo to suffer with a disease that I had no knowledge of and when I thought about the possibility of her children (if she were to get pregnant) being unable to find forever homes or even being abandoned, it made my heart feel extremely heavy with sadness.

As for an update on Sonyeo, I think Sonyeo can go on walks very soon and is healing very well. I think she will be able to play with her friends just as she did before in the near future! Currently, Sonyeo is eating a lot of healthy foods and healing well, so please don't worry! :)
