Hampi was once upon a time capital of Vijanagar kingdom. They ruled in South India over a long period of time.
I wanted to do complete video covering detailed itineary of Hampi, Badami and erstwhile Bijapur but since i didn’t get permission to make video and post it on youtube, i had to drop it and come back to Delhi.
My last option to was to talk to ASI and take permission for using mobile phone and they said, if the purpose of shoot is Youtube then you need to pay 70k kind of fees for each monument you visit.

Malyavanta Hills - We started our day in Hampi by visiting the “Malyavanta Hills”. This place is also known as “Kishkindha” - Kingdom of the Vanaras.
Malyavanta Temple - This Temple was built in the 16th century around a huge boulder in Dravidian architectural style.
According to mythology, Lord Ramachandra and his brother Lakshmana stayed here during the rainy season, in their search of Mata Sita.
Narasimha Statue - Then we visited the statue of “Ugra Narasimha”. It is also one of the biggest monolithic idols of Hampi and is 6.7 metres tall.
Breakfast - We came for breakfast at the “Tiffin Center” near the statue. We had Poori Sabzi & Bhajji in the breakfast & it was really good in taste.
Breakfast cost - Rs 70
Sasivekalu Ganesha - We had Darshan of Lord Ganesha & known as Mustard Seed Ganesha. It is an 8-foot huge statue carved out of a single rock.
Hemakuta Hill - Then we enjoyed the beautiful view from the top of “Hemakuta Hill”. There are more than 35 temples on Hemakuta Hill. These temples are built in the pre-Vijayanagara and Vijayanagara periods (9th to 14th century AD)
Kadlekalu Ganesha - After this, we had Darshan of the largest Lord Ganesha Statue known as “Kadlekalu Ganesha”. The giant Ganesha statue is 4.6 m (15 feet) tall.
Lunch at Hosapete - We had our lunch at Hotel Srinivas at Hosapete. We had a Thali with 2 different types of Roti which I never tasted before - “Til ki Roti & Peanut Roti.
Lunch - Rs 150 Thali
Ended our Tour - Throughout the day we faced interruptions from the Hampi’s different monuments staff during our video shoot. Hence, one day before we took permission also but then they went back on their word & we had to end our tour on the 1st day & go back.
Next up you will see the “Kurukshetra & Chandigarh” series.
