As a part of our Delhi Neighbourhood Eats series, we embarked on a flavourful journey through Geeta Colony, East Delhi guided by our host, Gagan Ji, who introduced us to some legendary food joints in this bustling hub of non-veg delicacies.

Our first stop was Tilak Kharode Wale, a name synonymous with mutton delicacies for years. From brain to tongue, trotters, and mutton keema, their menu is a treasure trove for meat lovers. We tried the trotters followed by tongue, discovering the rich flavors that make these dishes a local favourite.

Next, we visited Patiala Shahi Food Corner, renowned for their hearty soups. Their chicken soup stood out with its thick, peppery, and buttery flavour. Its taste was elevated by a secret spice mix that adds a unique touch.

Chawla's Chick Fish was our third destination, a haven for fried and tandoori delights. Their fried chicken and fish are crowd-pullers, with patrons enjoying their meals parked in their cars. We tried their fish tikka, made from fresh surmai fish, which was perfectly soft and meaty.

At Kamal Meat House, another legendary joint, we indulged in chilli chicken and keema mutton. The chilli chicken was a delightful twist on the classic, featuring fried chicken tossed in butter with capsicum, onions, and three types of gravies. The keema mutton, on the other hand, was packed with robust spices and tender meat, a true treat for meat enthusiasts.

Sachdeva Chicken Corner was next, where we sampled creamy chicken and butter chicken on Gagan’s recommendation. The creamy chicken lived up to its name, featuring a rich curry of cream, milk, and mild spices. The butter chicken, while flavorful had a pronounced tomato base that added a tangy punch.

To conclude our walk, we visited Kalra Sweets for a sweet finale. Their gajar ka halwa and gulab jamun were freshly made, offering the perfect balance of sweetness and richness to end the evening on a high note.

This food walk with our friend Gagan was a fascinating gustatory journey through the diverse and delicious offerings of Geeta Colony.
