# My Parisian Pilgrimage: Witnessing Neeraj Chopra's Silver Glory at Stade de France

Paris. The city of lights, love, and now, for me, Olympic dreams. My journey to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games was a pilgrimage, a quest to witness history in the making, especially the moment Neeraj Chopra would take the field. As mentioned in my previous blog posts, the adventure began with securing those precious tickets for the javelin throw event at the legendary Stade de France. Once that was locked down, the flights were booked, the dates carefully chosen to maximize my Olympic experience.

Accommodation Adventures:

Finding accommodation during the Olympics is like searching for a needle in a haystack. But luck was on my side! I snagged an amazing spot at the HI Hostel Paris Yves Robert. Just a short 300-meter walk from the Marx Dormoy metro station, it was perfectly located for easy access to all the beautiful sites Paris has to offer.

The Big Day Arrives:

The day of the javelin throw event dawned, and excitement crackled in the air. The event was scheduled for 10 AM, and I was determined to get there early to avoid any last-minute hiccups. Leaving my hotel, I took the Metro to Gare du Nord. What I encountered there was… intense. A sea of people surged through the station, a near stampede. It was a chaotic scene! Fortunately, I managed to board an RER train that took me closer to the stadium, about 1.5 km away. Even then, the walk to the stadium took almost 30 minutes, as it seemed every single person in Paris was heading to the same place.

Stade de France: A Colossus of Sport:

The entry process at the stadium was surprisingly smooth. My ticket and QR code were scanned, and I was in! I quickly found a spot and took in the grandeur of the Stade de France. This iconic stadium, chosen as a primary venue for Paris 2024, has a rich history. It's a symbol of French sporting prowess and has hosted countless major events, from World Cup finals to concerts by global superstars. It was selected for the Olympics because of its size, its world-class facilities, and its ability to create an electric atmosphere. Fun fact: Did you know that most of the athletic events and medal ceremonies took place here?

A Day of Sporting Spectacles:

The day was packed with action. While the javelin throw was the main event for me, numerous other competitions were happening simultaneously within the stadium. The energy was infectious! And then, the moment arrived. After what felt like an eternity of anticipation, it was time for the Indian contingent to take the field. Neeraj Chopra, the pride of India, was ready. The stadium roared as he stepped up, and what a performance it was! He was a force of nature, throwing with power and precision. He was a top contender and ultimately won a well-deserved silver medal for India! The feeling was incredible. I was witnessing history.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience:

I savored every moment, waving the Indian flag and sharing the joy with fellow fans. The entire experience was surreal, a dream come true. After the event, I lingered, soaking in the atmosphere before heading back, filled with the thrill of witnessing Olympic greatness.

My Personal Reflection:

My journey to Paris for the Olympics was an adventure in itself, culminating in the unforgettable experience of seeing Neeraj Chopra win silver at the Stade de France. The crowds, the excitement, the sheer scale of the event – it was all magnificent. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a memory I will cherish forever.
