In this series of three Episodes John Welsford joins Mat on Solid Air (Welsford Navigator) for the tawe nunnugah Raid (tn25). For 9 days they eat, sleep and sail with 120 other salty crew in 36 small boats and travel more than 94 nautical miles from Southern Tasmania into Hobart to join another 400 boats for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival. Part 1: Starts with a shakedown sail in Recherche Bay and concludes 4 days later on Bruny Island. Part 2: The fleet are held up on Bruny Island due to high winds. We chat with event organisers and boat owners then continue our sail north up the d’Entrecasteaux Channel and into the River Derwent.
