Mistrust comes from disjointed actions

I share what Iβve learnt from my conversations with Janice Wagner EP63 (Executive Search Specialist, based in Joβburg) and Jack Fleckney EP64 (Expedition Leader, based in the UK).

Β· The vital issue of trust in personal branding. What happens when things go wrong and the βpersonaβ of someone (which they express openly and in public) does not actually match with the real person when you meet them?
o Jack raised this in his episode, because he said it winds him up when people do this blatantly and it actually makes him trust them less.
o Janice realized very early on in starting her own business, that she needed to do something to gain peopleβs trust very quickly and HOLD it. She chose right then and there to be more of herself β all the time. That way people knew what to expect and they either resonated or they didnβt.
Β· Integrity is multifaceted. Integrity for me, is about doing what you say you are going to do, when you say you are going to do it and that also stretches to: stand for something and stick to it.
If you keep flip flopping what you think or how you act - it makes people uneasy.
o In Jackβs business people have to trust him to take them into extreme environments in foreign countries. He and his team literally keep their clients safe and alive, while delivering a life changing adventure. He shared in his conversation that theyβve planned a touchpoint journey to ensure that the client knows and feels that level of comfort and trust before they even sign up and go on the expeditions.
o Janiceβs clients have stayed with her for 14+ years because she does what she says she will, she delivers on what sheβs there to do and looks after the client all the way through. She knows what they need, she listens well, and they know what they can expect from her. She doesnβt let them down.
Β· How you make people feel (brand experience). I shared two very different experiences Iβd had recently with two different events Iβd attended and how they left me feeling.
o Jack talked about how hard they work on their clientβs journey to pinpoint where they can make the experience better.
o Janice talked about how she has trained her staff to pay attention to small and, sometimes personal, details about clients - so they feel looked after and heard.
