Paragliding Film: EPIC Paragliding Trip To The XC PARADISE in Colombia! We tested A LOT of paragliding gear and also joined advanced paragliding XC course / XC training with Monika & Pál Takáts! We flew in the Piedechinche area, near the city of Cali in the Cauca Valley region of Colombia. We launched from the flying site "Siete". All the gear seen in the video is available here: https://flybubble.com Adventure journey, from cold wet windy UK winter, to hot sunny flyable Colombia! We are always very busy, so it's quite difficult for us to get away at all. These kinds of trips cost a lot, flights are expensive, so we decided to try to make the most of it! Flying and testing as much gear, as much as possible! We took A LOT OF GEAR with us to test! 7 wings, 5 harnesses, 4 instruments, and various other items! Frankly, it was kind of ridiculous! First week: Acclimatisation. A bit of a change in temperature from the UK. From 2 degrees C to 32 degrees C! We'd also not flown that much since October, over 4 months! So we needed to get back into the swing of flying, then thermalling, then XC! It was flyable every day, and the flying was generally great and varied, with lots of thermalling! Early on a day or two were quite cloudy and the thermals were weak, but actually that worked well for us! Most of the days were excellent thermalling and XC days, and we flew 2-4 hour XCs. It was probably possible to fly for several hours every day but we didn't want to burn ourselves out, plus we had to make time for filming, and eating! And coffee, cheesecake and ice cream! By the end of the first week we were really getting to the swing of things and part of us just wanted to carry on doing our own thing, which was great! We were a bit nervous about the coming advanced XC course with Pal and Moni Takats but also quite excited about it. The evening before we said it'll be OK as they'll most likely start easy and build up. Second week: First day of the XC course, and it turned out to be an epic XC day, and the rest of the group were all chomping at the bit, so we were straight in at the deep end - no easy start or build up! This turned out to be quite a challenge even for Carlo, and a bit too much for Nancy! Everyone in the group flew well, and were clearly very keen and ambitious XC pilots, ready to push hard and go for it! Nancy and I were a bit surprised at how close everyone was flying to us, especially in thermals! It felt too close at times; we even felt we needed to take avoiding action a few times to not have a mid air! Clearly others were happier flying closer than we were! They had more faith that we wouldn't fly into them than we did! More in the film!
