Get ready for another epic arcade game restoration--this time it's POLE POSITION! A true arcade classic and one of the all-time greatest racing games. Who's ready to qualify?
It seems like an easy project--an empty cabinet, an assortment of parts, bundles of wiring--but turns out to be anything but that! Some parts are missing, some are for the wrong version of the cabinet, and some just plain don't work!
We'll see a bit of everything in this video--cabinet repair, arcade monitor rebuilding, circuit board work, and even a trip to a local factory for metal plating and restoration.
In the meantime, we'll take a look at some of the historical aspects of Atari's Pole Position, with factory footage and commercials highlighting the console releases.
After numerous months of work, Pole Position is completed and takes its rightful space in the home arcade. Yes, this video is long! Yes, you can skip the parts you aren't interested in! As always, Tod approaches his work with a sense of humor and keeps the video light and upbeat.
