Thanks so much for joining me in this conversation, and please don't forget to share these with friends who might take an interest! It's so fun to be able to share this stuff with all of you, and I'm really glad to hear that folks are finding it useful.
In this episode, we are looking at Barry Harris's dominant 7th flat 5 diminished scale. There are a couple of examples late in the video of applying it to jazz standards, and, before that, we look at how it sounds when we apply to this scale the various approaches discussed in earlier episodes.
For classical folks, I really meant to talk a little bit about why it is inaccurate to think of the dom7b5 as a french aug 6 chord. While they are essentially the same collection of notes, the behavior of the french aug 6 is very particular. . . maybe I'll follow up with another video about this at some point. . .
I'm really grateful for all of the feedback that I have received. Please keep the comments coming, and share anything that might add to the discussion. Barry Harris, is one of the most important musical thinkers alive today, and I am really enjoying exploring these concepts with all of you
