Ser can be confusing in Spanish when used in the past because there are 2 different Spanish past tenses: the preterite and the imperfect. Ser is used for permanent states or characteristics. Ser in the imperfect is used to describe people and objects whereas ser in the preterite is used to talk about events or when we use specific time frames. Follow along with us as we learn the conjugations, reasons why we use each tense, and plenty of examples to dominate them.
