Day 3: A visit to the Palace of Versailles Part I - the Palace. I'm a history nerd after all - well kind of LOL. But it's really cool to see the palace that was built almost 400 years ago (construction began in 1631), where prominent people in history books such as Louis the Great (Louis XIV) lived or significant events such as the signing of the Treaty of Versailles that "ended" the World War I took place. Anyway, this tour was worth it. We started with a visit to the Palace.
Our second stop was at the Versailles Orangerie/ Gardens of Versailles, built between 1684 and 1686, showcased the late medieval and early Renaissance popularity of oranges. Fun fact: Louis XIV was allergic to flowers and preferred citrus. Cool. The gardens have two sets: bottom and top. It's really cool to see the landscape when at the higher ground.
Lastly, the Grand Trianon - home for Louis XIV and his extended family. At the moment, it is an official residence of the President of France primarily used for receiving foreign dignitaries.
