You think Ebisu is weak, right? Well, that’s understandable, but he’s not exactly weak. In fact, he is a Tokubetsu Jōnin, or simply a Tokujo—a specialized ninja who may not be as well-rounded as other Jōnin but excels in a specific field. And for Ebisu, that field is teaching.
He may not be a powerful fighter, but his ability to train others is outstanding, especially when it comes to helping students understand and master both basic and advanced ninja skills. Even Kakashi, one of the strongest ninjas in the village, openly acknowledged that Ebisu was a better tutor than him. That’s why Kakashi trusted him to train Naruto for a short time, specifically in chakra control—one of the most fundamental skills for any ninja.

Anko, when she was still a Genin, was part of a team led by Orochimaru, and they participated in the Chūnin Exams. From a very early stage, Anko caught Orochimaru’s attention—not only did he see great potential in her, but he also personally trained her in his signature techniques. Eventually, Orochimaru made Anko a test subject for his Cursed Seal of Heaven. Out of the ten people he experimented on, Anko was the only one who survived. The mark of this curse appeared as three tomoe on the back of her neck. Although the Cursed Seal often tempted her to tap into its power, Anko always resisted and refused to let herself be consumed by its destructive force. It wasn’t until after the Fourth Shinobi World War that the seal was finally removed completely.
