Sourdough recipe for beginners. I share the secrets of growing, storing, and using your sourdough starter.
Ingredients:
Water
Flour all purpose white
To grow your first sourdough starter:
Day 1 - 1 tbsp all-purpose flour + 1 tbsp water, mix, feed once a day
Day 2 - 1 tbsp all-purpose flour + 1 tbsp water, mix, feed once a day
Day 3 - 1 tbsp all-purpose flour + 1 tbsp water, mix, feed once a day
Day 4 - 1 tbsp all-purpose flour + 1 tbsp water, mix and feed 2 times a day!
5-6-7-8 days - repeat the 4th day, i.e. 2 times a day 1 tbsp white flour + 1 tbsp water
On the 8th day the starter starts to grow, feed it again and put it in the refrigerator
A good active starter will rise even in the refrigerator.
A couple of important little things, the temperature of the room for raising the starter should be warm, +25C (77F) or a bit higher, if it’s cold at home, then I put my starter in a warm oven ( oven temp should not be higher than +25-27C (77F - 80F). Water for feeding should not be boiled; it is better to take filtered tab water and heat it until it's temp is about +25-27C (77F - 80F) , but not hot. The starter should be the consistency of thick sour cream/pancake dough.
