But with the right tools and techniques, anyone can become a pro at conversation starters. In this video, we're going to show you an exercise to help you practice starting a conversation from nothing. One of the most important things to keep in mind when starting a conversation is to be open-minded and curious. This means being approachable and friendly, as well as being genuinely interested in the other person. This can be as simple as asking open-ended questions and finding common ground to talk about. Another key element to starting a conversation is to have a set of openers or ice breakers ready to go. These can be funny one-liners, wordplay, anecdotes or even discussion starters based on current events or pop culture. Humor is a great way to lighten the mood and make the other person feel more comfortable. Active listening is also crucial when starting a conversation.
