This kayak bass fishing tournament on the Columbia River (Umatilla section) was part of KFNW Event #3 — and it completely broke me. After three nights of barely sleeping, pushing hard on the water in my Old Town Sportsman 106 PDL, and knowing I had a five-hour drive home, I made the decision to leave before the awards ceremony. That decision led to a disqualification. In this video, I break down how the entire tournament unfolded, how exhaustion caught up to me, and what it’s like to fall apart when you care deeply about something. I relied on my Humminbird Helix 7 to try to locate fish in tough conditions, but sometimes the mental side of tournament fishing is the biggest battle.
