What does an Exploration Geologist need to carry to complete their work and look after themselves when working in the field? With the Tablet EX Gear chest pack and their favourite backpack they can carry all of their field gear comfortably and have quick access to their essential equipment. Here are the links mentioned in the video: Jervis Pack: https://www.tablet-ex-gear.com/products/jervis-chest-pack Ruxton Chest Pack: https://www.tablet-ex-gear.com/collections/frontpage In this video you will see how a geologist can carry the following in the Jervis Chest Pack: • Geologist Hammer • Nails • Chisel • Tablet Computer • Field Book • Acid bottle • Felt Pens • Pencils • Protractor • Garmin GPS • Satellite Communicator • Binoculars • Flashlight • Multitool • Folding Knife • Fixed Blade Knife • Bear Mace • Compass • Handheld Radio • Sample Bags • Gloves • Hearing Protection In the Geologist’s backpack I would expect to find the following items: • Food • Water • Sunblock • Bug Spray • Gaiters • Sun Hat • Touque • Rain Pants • Rain Jacket • First Aid Kit • Survival Kit • Cable Ties In the survival kit I usually carry items such as: • Swiss Army Knife • Candles • Matches • Lighter • Extra flashlight • Batteries • Electrical Tape • Orange Garbage Bags (as big as you can get) – good for signalling and as a jacket or shelter • Emergency Blanket In addition to the survival kit, I also like to have a small folding saw. It works to cut firewood or make a shelter and is a lot lighter than an axe (I forgot to include this in the video). Keep in mind that my survival kit is what I have found to be suitable for the West Coast of Canada. One other thing to keep in mind for your survival kit is where will it be if you are traveling in a light aircraft. I would normally put this in a fanny pack and wear it while in the aircraft. This way if the aircraft ditches in the water you will still have it when you get out and swim to shore. All the best and safe travels! Brian Saunders President Tablet EX Gear
