In all families there is a generation gap - different attitudes between parents and children. In black families in Britain though, there is a further problem. Not only is there a difference in age but black parents and their children are often also from totally different cultures. The film explores the conflict that can arise in households especially when kids get involved in trouble at school or with the police. Owen Sylvester of the Melting Pot Foundation explains that there is a disproportionate number of black children coming into the care system. The film interviews a number of boys who left home at an early age including 16 year-old Michael Gelutu. They are asked what they think about living in a hostel for homeless boys and tell the story of how they ended up living there. They also talk about their aspirations and whether they see a future for themselves.
