RH-negative comes from a broken RHD gene—specifically, a chunk of it gets deleted, so no D antigen shows up. You need two copies of this busted gene (one from each parent) to be RH-negative. Scientists guess this mutation popped up over 100,000 years ago in Africa, since it’s there in tiny amounts (1 to 3%). But it really took off in Europe, hitting high notes in places like Spain’s Basque Country. Some estimates peg its rise to 30,000 to 35,000 years ago, based on genetic drift or maybe a survival perk we haven’t nailed down. But what if it’s older, like 50,000 years ago, and tied to Neanderthal mixing? CHAPTERS: 0:00 RH INCOMPLETE AND RH NEGATIVE - A LINK? 14:35 RH NULL AND RH NEGATIVE - A LINK?
