I drove from Vardø, Norway around the Varangerfjord to the city of Kirkenes. The drive was stupendous, winding all along the water's edge. Several stops along the way included the crazy Drakkar Leviathan sculpture depicting a Viking ship and whale skeleton; the ancient Sámi settlements at Mortensnes; a hard road through the tough rolling hills near Kirkenes; and the glorious rapids of the crashing Neiden River. This is a remarkable and instructive journey on the most remote roads in all of Norway!
