航空自衛隊で１９７１年から運用されてきたF-４ファントムⅡ戦闘機が２０２１年３月、岐阜基地・飛行開発実験団でラストフライトを無事に終えて退役しました。
飛行開発実験団の飛行隊は航空機の開発や改修に伴う飛行試験とテストパイロットの養成を担当する部隊で、高度な技量と経験豊富なパイロットだけが配属されています。

The F-4 PhantomⅡ, belonging to the Air Development and Test Wing of Japan Air Self-Defense Forces (JASDF) based in Gifu Air Base, completed its last flight on March 17th, 2021 after half a century engagement to protect Japan’s security. The Air Development and Test Wing is composed of high-skilled and long-experienced test pilots, who help develop Military aircraft and train test pilot. The video footage taken a staff photographer of the Yomiuri Shimbun, aboard the fighter jet, features the routine training flight of the F-4 PhantomⅡ and the pilots on December 2020.
