I usually put the script description first, but I wanted to clarify the [mentions of homophobia] tag in the title before that. It's something which the listener experiences with her own family, and it's discussed in this script, but nothing explicit is said in that regard. This script/audio is designed as a safe space for those folks who might not have a safe or comfortable place for the holiday. The speakers are all lovely, and it's really meant to be a cosy, wholesome experience for everyone involved.

_You've been dating your girlfriend for almost a year, and now it's Thanksgiving Day, and you've been invited to dinner with her family, whom you'll be meeting for the first time. You're nervous and hoping to make a good first impression, but she assures you that her family is really nice and accepting and that you don't need to worry. You believe her, though you've enough bad experiences with your own family making aggressive homophobic comments that you can't help but be nervous anyway—though you reckon that it's normal to be nervous when meeting your girlfriend's parents and older sibling for the first time. But as you join them for a much more casual version of the celebration than you're used to and you seem to have made good impressions, you relax and get to enjoy just a nice, cosy, and wholesome family gathering._
