Well, sir, there's nothing on Earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified, six-car monorail!
Join Curator Rob Scargill as we travel back to the dawn of the 20th Century and meet two inspiring inventors who each had a dream to change the railway as we know it: Louis Brennan (an Irishman in Australia) and Elfric Wells Chalmers Kearney (an Australian in the UK).
Through fascinating deep dives into models of Brennan’s self-balancing Monorail Gyrocar and Kearney’s High-Speed Tube Railway, Rob takes us on a journey into a potential railway future that was never to be and makes the case for why these failed inventions were not failures at all.
Expect pizazz, innovation and a short detour to the planet Uranus via Springfield...
