Please forgive any typos I made in the video; it was recorded at around midnight and I was eepy. I was also too lazy to code some kind of text printing program. I'll definitely include a corrected transcription of the typed contents later on. (This is totally not filler content while I figure out a 1K sub celebration)
Family BASIC was never officially released for the FDS. But that didn't stop people from porting it themselves back then! Some time ago, I came across the documentation I needed to reproduce the port. Dubbed v2.1D, this version greatly expands the program memory and makes it faster/simpler to switch between Game BASIC and the graphics tool (BGTOOL). Unfortunately, disk I/O is missing and you're stuck with v2.1A features. There's the related I2 Souseiki Fammy and its Disk BASIC Generator Kit, but that's more-or-less MIA. Still - I can't be the only one who thinks this is cool, right?
I don't have an original Family BASIC keyboard right now, so I can't test this on real hardware yet. I think I might know who to nag, tho...
