I return once again to Fancy Lad Farms to search for dogtooth calcite and, of course, Missouri's "Grey Gold." While it is not actually gold, galena was a highly valuable ore found in the state of Missouri. Alongside galena, I also discovered sphalerite, another important mineral in Missouri’s mining history, as it served as a key ore of zinc. The extraction of these minerals not only fueled local economies but also contributed to industrial development by providing essential materials for batteries, ammunition, and construction.
