The HBC Heritage Trail is a newly restored route crossing the Cascade Mountains in British Columbia, 74 km from Hope to Tulameen. Our plan was to fastpack the trail over two days, spending a night at one of the many free campsites along the way.
The HBC Heritage Trail, also called the Brigade Trail, was a route originally used by First Nations for hunting and trade. It then played an important role in the European fur trade in British Columbia between 1849 to 1860, after the Hudson's Bay Company adopted the route. The wilderness trail reopened in 2015, allowing us to once again cross the Cascade Mountains by horseback or by foot.
Filmed within the traditional and unceded territories of the Stó:lō, Nlaka'pamux and Syilx/Okanagan Nations.
