We travelled from Sydney to Nadi on the East side of the island. Suva the capital is the other option, but this is one the west side of the island. We split out trip into two parts to get a full feel for what Fiji has to offer. Part 1 we stayed in a lovely Air B n B near the centre of Nadi. Nadi itself has some amazing hotels on the waterfront, but these are crazy expensive and you want to spend most of your time on boat trips. I would use this time to stay in somewhere more affordable as each boat trip is between £80 - £100. We did Cloud 9, Mamanuca Reef and South Sea Island. Cloud 9 is paradise on earth, well actually its a bar in the middle of the ocean. This is a half day trip and I would advise going in the morning. You get the sun on you and the wind will be lower - way better if you want to fly a drone. Make sure you are near the exit to get off as there are only 4 cabana beds to sit on and you 100% want one of these. Reasonable drinks and a wood fried pizza oven on here. Mamanuca had an amazing BBQ, great snacks and 2 hours of a free bar! The snorkelling around the reef here was magical and the most fish I have ever seen. South Sea Island was the shortest boat ride at about 40 minutes from the port, but the food was a little disappointing. It was also FREE DRINKS all day long for your and wine lovers!
The 2nd part of the trip saw us get a taxi to the south side of the island. This was 1.20 mins and cost us $110 dollars so around £45. If you need a driver drop me a message and I can put you in touch with Bill who was lovely. We check into a remote resort overlooking the reef and had the entire place to ourselves. The resort we stayed in had the best people from NZ running it. They live close by and it felt super homely. This is a very much off the grid, middle of nowhere chilling type vibe just to make everyone aware. Check out the Crabb shack for a bit of lunch overlooking the reef.
Overall Fiji is an amazing place! How do you think it compares to the Philippines and have you been anywhere else with water like this?
