Mary Jean was looking for her US. Military Father for 45 years, she found him through an Ancestry DNA test last year but did not have the courage to call him for fear of rejection. These former U.S. Vietnam Veterans who visited the Philippines during the 1970s on their R and R are blissfully unaware that some of them fathered Amerasian children. Mary Jean recently got the chance to tell The Leah and Blair Slog of her upbringing of being adopted and how she still longs to find her real birth mother, Ms. Delia Garboni. This was an important interview for myself and Leah May, we are learning to know the real differences between sympathy and empathy. It is only when one can feel empathy can we better understand what it is like for these broken hearted Amerasians of Olongapo and Angeles City, many are still searching for their long-lost US Military Fathers.
