In this video we tackle filling holes in our van and adding some Dodo sound deadening with Dodo Dead Mat Hex. This will hopefully reduce noise and vibrations on the road and prevent any rust forming in the future. We want our van conversion to last!
We have a large number of screw holes (at least 50!) left from the old plywood floor we removed, that go straight through to the outside. We wanted to fill these in so we could paint over them, and after some searching we found Steelstik for this. It worked really nice, and allowed us to sand it down to a super smooth finish (enough to slide across, good fun!). Took a bit of doing but we think it will be worth it in the long run.
Holes filled, we painted them over with some red oxide primer and then a couple of layers of hammerite. The van went from resembling a spotty Dalmatian to a crime scene to a super clean finish in the space of a couple of days. All ready so we could then take it for a weigh in and see how much we have to play with to finish our conversion. Weight is at a premium!
Working through rain, hail, and finally snow we got to work putting in our sound deadening. It's given the van a bit of character and made it look a bit like a spaceship on the inside :)
