It’s our last day in Dali, Yunnan, and we’re ending this amazing trip with a bang! We stumbled upon a charming little Bai ethnic restaurant by the roadside and decided to dive into some local flavours. As a German-Chinese couple, we're hosting my German sister and dad on their first trip to China, and it’s been such a joy to show them the beauty of Yunnan—even though my husband is from Dongbei, which is very far from here!

We tried some seriously unique dishes: hairy tofu (upsetting name, delicious snack!), stinky tofu, sour and spicy papaya fish, water lily, charred raw pork skin, and a local favourite called “grandma’s potatoes.” Let’s just say, it was a feast for the senses!

This trip has been all about sharing the incredible culture, food, and warmth of China with my family, and we’re so excited to take you along for the ride. If you love exploring hidden gems, trying new foods, and seeing the world through a mix of German and Chinese perspectives, this one’s for you!
