In this episode of Rocky Mountain Farmer, we wrap up the final day of our potato harvest! The season has been a long one, but we’re finishing strong with a full view of the process from start to finish.
We begin the day in the potato cellar, where I walk you through how everything works behind the scenes to get millions of pounds of potatoes ready for storage. Next, hop into the truck with me as we load up and head out to the field. You’ll get a unique perspective from the truck as we move product, and then we take a close-up look at all the equipment running in the field, including the harvester and other essential machinery that’s been working hard to bring in this year’s crop.
As we head back to the cellar, I take a moment to show you something less exciting—one of our older cellars that’s slowly starting to fall apart. You’ll see some of the cracks forming in the walls, giving you a sense of the ongoing challenges we face with aging infrastructure.
We finish the day by packing up and moving the equipment out of the cellar, marking the official end of this year’s harvest. It’s been a tough but rewarding journey, and I’m excited to share the full story with you.
