BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KNN) — The Bakersfield Fire Department extinguished a blazing garage fire Saturday afternoon in the city of Bakersfield.
Firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Wetherley Drive and Stockdale Highway where arriving crews encountered heavy smoke billowing from a garage. Once the garage door was lifted by firefighters, flames lashed out from the burning interior.
The occupants evacuated the house as a safety precaution. No injuries were reported.
Traffic was shut down westbound to a single lane in the area of the fire. The BFD quickly knocked down the flames and contained the fire from spreading to the house.
