Part of my "Learning Motorcycle Maintenance Series." Took my new Triumph Bonneville to Hourglass Cycles in Buford, GA for its first break in service. This is the dealership the previous owner got this bike, and where I test rode my first Triumph Bonneville. They helped this noob out and gave me a bonus, quick pre-ride check up review.
The first break in service is standard at around $270 for this bike at all the Triumph dealerships I called in my area. This is what a first break in service entails:
1) Checklist dictated by Triumph of inspections and measurements to assure the bike doesn't need any attention
2) Check for any updates, recalls, or announcements from Triumph
3) All bikes with a computer are connected to Triumph's diagnostic computer system and a diagnostic program checks through the systems on the bike. Any small adjustments that are needed are completed as part of the service.
4) If an aftermarket pipe has been installed since purchase they also install an updated map to match it. (Triumph gives them 2 or 3 air/fuel maps for each model, there is a map that will work well with most aftermarket exhausts)
