This year (2021), I'll have been playing gigs for 32 years! From lounge bar duos, to bar gigs and festival gigs, I've played in Europe, Asia and Australia. Sometimes in front of 2, sometimes in front of thousands. Some of the years I did heaps of shows (I think in 2006 I did close to 150) and some years fewer that that... (thanks COVID). Here are 10 things that I've learnt from doing shows that I wish I'd have known at the very beginning of my gig life. Some are obvious, others less so. What are your tips for successful shows?
