First lady Melania Trump went to Capitol Hill Monday for her first solo public appearance since President Donald Trump took office in January.
The first lady joined lawmakers for a roundtable in support of the "Take It Down Act."
"Addressing this issue is essential for fostering a safe and supportive environment for our young people," Melania Trump said, speaking about how in today's AI-driven world, the threat to privacy is "alarming and high."
The first lady spoke extensively about protecting children, especially young teen girls online. During Trump's first administration, the first lady led an initiative called "Be Best" with a focus on online safety.
"As First Lady my commitment to the Be Best initiative underscores the need for online safety," the first lady said. "Ensuring their protection is not just a responsibility but a vital step in nurturing future leaders."
